Differences Between the 2018 VW Atlas S and Launch Edition Trims

The biggest difference you can find between the S trim on the VW Atlas and the Launch Edition is the standard engine. The 2018 VW Atlas S is the only trim that comes with the 2.0L I-4 engine. Unfortunately, we currently don’t know the official MPG rating but we do know that the engine will have a 235 horsepower output. The Launch Edition Atlas, and other trims, come standard with a 3.6L V6 engine that has an 18 City/25 Highway MPG rating and 276 horsepower. The additional size and power lets the VW Atlas tow up to 5,000 pounds, though the 2.0L Atlas can still handle a 2,000-pound trailer.

Regardless of which Atlas trim you choose, you’ll still have an interior full of comfort and impressive features. For instance, both come standard with a touch screen and infotainment system that lets you use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The two also share the same dual-zone climate control and VW Car-Net App-Connect system.
