Volkswagen continues to deliver an impressive ride in the 2022 GTI. The new generation comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with sport tuning. The 2022 GTI gets 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, up from 228 HP and 258 lb-ft in the seventh-generation models. Even the 0 to 60 MPH time has increased to 4.7 seconds thanks to the turbocharging and low vehicle weight.

Buyers can choose the six-speed manual transmission, or they can add an available seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The GTI comes with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is not an option on the GTI.

Volkswagen adds several safety features to all GTI trims. Technology and Styling Features

The 2022 Golf GTI base model comes with an 8.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, wireless device charging, and seven speakers. It also has a 10.25-inch digital instrument display.

On the inside, the GTI S has cloth upholstery with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. On the outside, it has 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels depending on the trim.

The GTI SE has a sunroof and additional technology like a 10-inch touchscreen, navigation, traffic-sign recognition, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Leather seats are available on this trim.

The top trim is the VW Golf GTI Autobahn which comes with performance summer tires, tri-zone automatic climate control, heated seating all around, and the optional features on the SE trim.
